How To Incorporate A Fence Into Your Landscape

Use these tips to match your fence to your landscape.

Your landscape is an extension of your home’s design, so it makes sense that you’d want to take some special consideration when planning any design elements in it.It’s all about curb appeal. If your home looks good, the property value will go up and you’ll be better equipped to sell your home if you choose to do so. Your fence is one of the biggest parts of your landscape, so it’s important that you match the fence to your yard’s overall aesthetic.  Here are some ways you can incorporate a fence into your home’s landscape seamlessly.

Pick The Right Material

This is perhaps the most crucial step to take, because choosing the wrong material for your landscape will be immediately recognizable and can make your yard look unorganized and unappealing. Think about what’s in your surrounding area when you’re choosing a material for your fence. For example, if you’re in an area with a lot of foliage, a white vinyl fence might stand out too much for your liking. If you have a specific material in mind for your fence that you aren’t willing to budge from, consider painting it to make it match the surrounding elements.

Change The Height

Contrary to popular belief, your fence doesn’t need to be the same height across the board. Vary your fence’s height in certain places to account for things like trees and privacy. In places where the trees are higher, you could either decide to make the fence high enough to blend in with them or you might make the fence lower since nobody would be able to see over it anyway. Integration is key so remember that whatever height you choose, make sure it doesn’t look too out of place.

Think About The Environment

The environment in which you live plays a major role in incorporating a fence. For example, in areas that are wet or experience temperature extremes you should opt for a fence that isn’t made of wood. Any damage that would result because of this weather would not only tarnish your fence, but make it stand out from the rest of your landscape as well.
