Hercules Fence was recently honored with a Platinum Level STEP award.
This award is the Associated Builders and Contractors STEP (Safety Training Evaluation Process) is based on an evaluation of safety performance efforts and industry metrics regarding injury rates and Workers Compensation insurance rates.

Hercules Fence Participates in the Norfolk Harbor 5k
Eight members of the Norfolk/Corporate staff participated on November 20 in the Norfolk Harbor 5k. Participants right to left were Kim Ellington, Kesha Rials, Louis Jason, Kathy Gianquitto, Gardys Reyes, Trenna Nees, Aime Stevenson and Jay Klebanoff.
The event benefited Children’s Hospital of the Kings Daughters in Norfolk.

Hercules Fence is proud to be a PLATINUM award recipient in Associated Builders and Contractor’s STEP Safety Management System for the 2021 year. Founded in 1989, STEP participation demonstrates safety leadership and a cultural commitment to safety performance.
STEP applicants measure their safety processes and policies on 25 key components through a detailed questionnaire with the goal of implementing or enhancing safety programs that reduce jobsite incidents. Hercules earned top marks in safety leadership, employee safety training, and incident investigation. Hercules fence excelled at safety training and safety leadership.
“An industry-wide commitment to total human health is essential to ensure both the physical and mental health and safety of our workforce,” said Greg Sizemore, ABC vice president of health, safety, environment and workforce development. “ As a STEP participant, Hercules Fence’s leadership has demonstrated a commitment to create the conditions for all to do their work without incident. By implementing proactive safety measures, such as emergency preparedness plans and a sound personal protective equipment policy, Hercules Fence is committed to consistently raising the bar when it comes to safety performance.”
Construction participants placing in the highest tiers displayed an 827% improvement in safety performance according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics in 2019. Amazing Job Hercules Fences’ Richmond Branch with the Deer Fencing Project
The Richmond branch of Hercules Fence managed by Chris Hilliar has done an amazing job with our deer fencing project on I-64 in Albemarle County. It has had a 100% success rate in keeping wildlife off the highway while preventing collisions and protecting animals. The department of transportation is encouraged by the results and would like to expand its Wildlife Fencing efforts throughout the state.

According to ABC’s annual Safety Performance Report, applying STEP processes dramatically improves safety performance among participants regardless of company size or type of work, and can reduce recordable incidents up to 88%, making the best performing companies 827% safer than the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics industry average. Ratings range from Diamond, the highest, to Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze and Participant.
