Signs You Should Get A New Fence

Signs You Need A New Fence

Here are a few signs you need a new fence.

As time goes on, your fence might show signs of wear. Naturally, things tend to deteriorate over time, and this is especially true if they aren’t maintained well. Your fence isn’t made to last forever, but you can extend its lifespan significantly if you use these tips. Here are some signs that you should look for that show that it’s time for you to get a new fence.

Wood Fences

Because wood is an organic material, it’s susceptible to the effects of weathering. All year long, there are weather conditions that can negatively affect your fence’s quality. During the warmer parts of the year, humidity can cause your wood fence to warp, and during the colder months, precipitation and strong winds can damage your fence’s surface and cause it to rot. You should also take a look at your wood fence to see if it’s been damaged by termites. If your wood fence is experiencing any of these issues, it may be time to get a new one.

Vinyl Fences

Vinyl fences are known for being low-maintenance, but they aren’t indestructible! Strong storms that come through your area can leave the foundation of your fence weaker than it was before. This is because it can disturb the ground under your fence and leave it off-center. It’s also crucial to inspect your vinyl fence to make sure it doesn’t have any cracks in it. Cracks might start out small, but over time they’ll grow. If you address the problem soon after it happens, you may be able to salvage your fence, but if not it can lead to issues. If your fence isn’t aligned properly or if it has deep cracks in it, you should get a new one.

Aluminum Fences

Aluminum fences are similarly low-maintenance, but they require some special care to ensure they last for a long time. Check on your aluminum fence after a storm happens so you can determine whether or not it’s misaligned. This misalignment can lead to larger problems down the line, so it’s vital to get it fixed quickly. Make sure all your posts are exactly where they need to be in order to ensure your fence stays in good shape.
