Endangered whooping cranes will live in these enclosures at SCBI.

Hercules Fence is proud to announce that it partnered with Kee Construction to create enclosures for endangered whooping cranes! These endangered whooping cranes were relocated to the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute (SCBI) in late December. This facility, which is 3,200 acres, is being used to house whooping cranes for the first time.

At SCBI, the cranes will live in outdoor enclosures that have a shelter, three water troughs and two ponds. The enclosures are divided into three pens that designed to keep the cranes safe, with twelve foot high chain link fences and overhead netting to prevent the cranes from flying away. The netting is supported by steel cables and wire insulators were placed on the exterior fences for added security.
